What do I need to rent a vehicle?

To rent a vehicle from us, you need: a valid passport or ID document, a valid driver's license, proof of address, proof of banking details, R3,900 refundable deposit (returned within 14 working days), and your first rental payment upfront.

What rental options do you offer?

We offer two rental options: Daily Rentals with premium rates for short-term rentals (1 day or more), and Monthly Rentals with best value - minimum rental period of 1 calendar month with special monthly rates. Contact us for specific pricing on both options.

How does the fuel policy work?

Accepted Answer

All vehicles are delivered fully fueled and must be returned with a full tank. If not returned fully fueled, fuel will be charged to your account plus a R100 administration fee. Please fuel at Sasol on Raats Drive or Engen on Jansens Drive in Table View and present your fuel slip.

What does the rental rate include?

Our rental rates include 24-hour roadside assistance, comprehensive insurance on your rental vehicle, and 100km per day free mileage. Rates exclude fuel and oil, R200 mandatory cleaning fee, and R290 contract fee.

What about mileage and distance restrictions?

All rentals include 100km per day free for the duration of the rental. Excess mileage is charged at R2.50 per kilometre. All vehicles are for use only in Cape Town and surrounds, not to be driven further than 150km radius. Prior written arrangement required for traveling further - email infocapedrive@gmail.com.

How long before my deposit gets returned?

Accepted Answer

The R3,900 deposit is refunded within 14 working days after your contract expires. EFT payments are refunded to the same banking account, credit card payments to the same card, and cash payments to the renter's banking account. Card details must be provided as security for traffic violations received after deposit refund.

What if I receive a traffic offense?

Accepted Answer

The renter is responsible for all fines and traffic offenses during the rental period. All traffic violations carry a R400 administrative penalty. Violations will be charged to the renter or deducted from the deposit. All damages will also be charged to the renter or deducted from the deposit.

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept Cash (3% surcharge on extended rentals paid at ATM or bank), EFT/Internet Transfer (no surcharge), Debit or Credit card (5% surcharge), Zapper (5% surcharge), and payments through our website (4% surcharge). NO foreign currency accepted - payments in South African Rands only.

Can I add an extra driver?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can add additional drivers to your rental contract. The cost is R400 per driver. The primary renter agrees to be responsible for the vehicle unless additional drivers are formally added to the contract with the owner's agreement.

What are the vehicle care requirements?

Accepted Answer

Vehicles must be returned in the same condition as received: fully fueled (or R100 admin fee applies), clean and tidy (R200 mandatory cleaning fee applies), no damage beyond normal wear and tear. NO gravel road driving permitted. Long-term rental clients (2+ weeks) must regularly check oil, water, and tires.

What about late returns and rental extensions?

Late returns will be charged at the full daily rental rate. Rental Extensions require 48 hours' notice before contract expiry. Balance must be paid within 24 hours to confirm extension. R200 penalty per day for late extension payment.

What is the contract fee?

Accepted Answer

A contract fee of R290 applies to all rental contracts. This administrative fee covers the processing and documentation of your rental agreement.

Can I remove the signs on the vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can remove any signage on the vehicle. The charge for sign removal is R500.

Question 14

What if I want to travel outside the radius?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can travel outside the 150km radius with prior written permission. Notify us in writing at infocapedrive@gmail.com. Charges depend on distance and vehicle rented. Must receive approval before departing. Do not go out of the radius without permission - violations may result in penalties or deposit deductions.
